Suzuki FI Code C13: Intake Air Pressure Sensor — Causes & Fix
On Suzuki motorcycles and scooters, FI code C13 means a fault in the intake air pressure (IAP) sensor circuit — the sensor that reads manifold pressure so the ECM can meter fuel.
- Applies to
- Suzuki motorcycles
- Est. repair cost
- $20 – $130
- Time to fix
- 30–90 minutes
What it means
Common triggers are a loose IAP connector, a cracked or disconnected vacuum hose, harness damage, or a failed sensor. This is a generic Suzuki fuel-injection (FI) code, so it applies across Suzuki FI models — the Raider R150 Fi, Smash, Gixxer, GSX-R and GSX-S range, V-Strom, and more. Suzuki reports it as a "C" number, shown through the FI-light blink pattern or by entering the bike’s dealer/diagnostic mode. After the fault is repaired it becomes a stored "history" code; clear it through Suzuki’s dealer/diagnostic mode so the FI light goes out.
Symptoms
- FI light on with code C13
- Rough running, hesitation, or poor economy
- Occasional stalling
How to fix it
- 1
Inspect the IAP connector and vacuum hose
1. Find the IAP sensor on the throttle body/intake. 2. Reseat the connector; check the vacuum hose for cracks or a poor seal.
- 2
Check wiring and replace
1. Test the sensor’s three wires for continuity. 2. Replace the IAP sensor if out of spec, then clear the code.
Frequently asked questions
Is a loose vacuum hose the usual cause of C13?
Frequently, yes — a split or popped-off hose throws off the pressure reading. Inspect it before replacing the sensor.
